Gangtey or Phobjikha valley is a wide valley with roosting spot for Black Necked cranes in winter, which fly from Tibetan Plateau and fly back in summer. The cranes are protected by Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) with information centre, where has the telescope to look out for the birds dancing in the meadow. There are few hotels and beautiful villages on the trek.
This three days trek is an easy with possibility to do throughout the year through forests of bamboo, juniper, rhododendrons and magnolia, and beautiful villages and Buddhist monasteries. The best time for this trek is spring and autumn.
