(El. 5590ft) the Royal Family of Bhutan was started from
Lhuntse, dating back to the 16th century when the great relic
discoverer’s son migrated from Bumthang. North from Lhuntse Dzong lies Dungkhar
is the exact origination of the Royal Family.
This region is famous for superb textile called, Kushuthara, fine silk woven by the
village women with a brocading technique. The Queen mother has emphasized
weaving of the textile by supporting them.
A huge semi wrathful statue of Guru Rinpoche, the
Great Tibetan Master is being built measuring 159 feet high on top of a hill.
This is to bring peace and prosperity in the world, in particular Bhutan.
